Texas Government Notes
Lets go over last Thursday's notes from POLS.
Take out your notes and try to answer my questions.
This is to help correct your notes and/or add one to them
Lets have full participation, I don't want to have to start making quizzes over this.

Communication: Speaking and Listening
You had a communication model homework assignment for COMM.
What is it like to give a speech?
How are you as a listener?
You will give several speeches in your life and knowing how to handle communicating in front of an audience is an excellent skill to have.
Knowing how to be a good listener is also a good skill to have. But listening is not just about listening. As an audience member, you should also be fully aware of your facial expressions and body language.
We thought it would be a good idea to have some practice listening to a speaking and talking to a semi-stranger (giving a mini speech).
So for today, you will be randomly paired up. One person will be assigned to be speaker and one will be assigned to be listener.
COMM: Chapter 3 / Public Speaking
So, hopefully you don't dislike your partner after that last activity.
I have a small crossword puzzle that has terms from Chapter 3....something you should have already read.
Work together with your partner to complete this activity. Once you are done:
Turn it in
Make sure you signed in
And take a copy of the homework activity
The homework activity is a bit of a survey to look at how you feel about public speaking. There is no wrong or right answer. It is a completion grade and helps you and I become aware of what you will need to work on for this learning community.
If you lose the handout, that's ok. I'll put it up on Blackboard for you to download.
